22

i turned 22 today how ridiculous is that

the winter in chicago has been as cold as most people heightened it up to be, and the just as windy...not nearly as much snow though, which is a shame.

I try to go out once every couple of weeks to get a shot of all the changes the season brings to the beach near our apartment. It is amazing what a little bit of sand, freezing temperatures and snow can do to a place you can walk up to durring the summer and fall.

Everything is somewhat treacherous, slippery, and more interesting to look at. I also tend to cause myself some sort of random injury every morning slipping on the ice, or falling between the cracks, or simply getting vertigo from my fear of heights while i climb on the large rock walls.

I'm not sure if its even legal to be out there, but its me, the sun and a few dog walkers each morning. I'm often perilously close to the edge of the water and ice, but they often chat amongst themselves about it. I think we have an unnatural relationship that i take solace in knowing they await my eventual fall so they can say they witnessed me up there as it scrolls across the news.

oh well i'm as careful as i can be, after all its not my camera to lose, and i still have to many photos to take to die just yet.

in other news I'm auctioning two polaroid photographs of the world absolutely amazing Apnea of apneatic.com. I'd rather keep them but sometimes you gotta sell a polaroid to buy a polaroid and all of that jazz. Sometimes i feel like my pictures are my offspring so i horde them and protect them. I can't help it. I like to have them all in front of me so i can see what i've done

Horse And Buggy

So pre-thanksgiving i took the old horse and buggy out to new york for my workshop in Manhattan. Incredibly long and pretty boring drive. I spent about 8 hours sleeping in the back of my car in ohio on the journey, which was harder than i thought it would be.

So the workshop went really really well, and over all I think that the participants got a lot out of it and produced some cool images. You can check them out below.

After the workshop I drove up to Addison, Ny...Haven't heard of it? Not really surprising, its the land from which my father hails.
That ought to give you a pretty good feel for the ruralness that i was to encounter. Went up there for hunting, saw absolutely no deer until i was pulling away from the barn in my car. God or the earth or whoever has a damning sense of humor that i do not particularly enjoy when sitting in the cold for hours on end and hoping for some food, fabric and bones. I want to carve my own utensils at some point in time.

But the holiday went by fast and was definitely enjoyed. I always remember how much I love Central, Pa when I go back. It will most certainly be home no matter how far I wonder.

I did a couple shoots while i was back and even managed to dismount the fox from his wooden/foam mount for a couple pictures. Hope you enjoy

Driving At Night with Wet Eyes

So I finally went out last night with the intention of trying to get something interesting of the lake with the city in the background. Amy and I had napped from about 7:30-11:30 so i was wide awake at 3 when we decided to go for a walk.

My wireless shutter release was broken, but fortunately the ambient lighting from the streets provided some interesting harshness and textures in the concrete, and enough light that i didn't need to shoot for more than 30 seconds.

I love the lake, definitely what i will miss most when we leave here.

In other news, well there really isn't much other news. I'm still looking for a gallery to show my Landscapes and Erotica in, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Also had somebody suggest I do a landscapes workshop in Harrisburg, and I'm definitely considering it. I'm actually really good at teaching people how to get great landscapes regardless of what kind of equipment they are using, just ask Laura. Plus I think it would be pretty refreshing to teach a class outside of the studio for once.

Surprise Stop

So today was pretty awesome. I woke up to find out I was gonna make about 235 Euros for not all that much work. Then a few minutes later I got messages about having images published in Bizarre Magazine (one of the biggest fetish publications) and a paper in NYC not sure which one yet, but regardless images have been sent out.

Thus far i've spent most of the date rapidly editing files for publication. In one day I finished stuff for 5 websites and 2 print based medias...also got three orders in for a limited run I'm doing of Zui Suicide...you may know her from Paris Hiltons my New BFF season one on MTV, and another person signed up for the workshop on the 21st in NYC. With all that done i'm gonna relax and check out the sunset over the lake again, which as usual will probably be gorgeous.

Major Turn

so the trip is over...we sucked at updating...and now i'm living in chicago

but i still travel consistently, so there will be more updates coming as time goes by and probably more frequently.

Amy (of vaunt designs) and i just got back from a trip to detroit. I shot a set for zivity with vivka and a friend in howell from MM. Then went and visited family in grand haven.

This is what my grand parents get to see everyday of their life...its pretty ludicrous that somebodies front yard could be so pretty

Somebody told me this weekend that i've progressed as a photographer the opposite way most do. I got into shooting fashion, nudes, erotica first, and have just recently become really interested in landscapes. I suppose they are correct.

in other news i got a job today shooting for a website in spain a couple times a month. I'm getting paid in Euro's that is pretty exciting.
