Colorado

Colorado...I was supposed to spend five days in Denver, but Denver was just...eh. We arrived in the tiny town of littleton where we were staying with Laura's college roommate Victoria. Staying with her was great. Having a bed was just as great.

First day went up to red rock canyon for some photos and hiking.
Spent that night in the actual city where i wandered around while they went to a club called Lodos, and eventually ended up a little jazz bar called El Chapultec, which turned out to be awesome. Next day drove 4 hours to Steamboat Springs to get the authentic colorado hot springs experience. It was warm relaxing and felt like heaven.

Drove back down to littleton really late that night and the next day we headed to boulder to see another college friend of Laura's. Boulder had great views from outside of the town, but the actual city had a really weird vibe...spent that night holed up editing photos and playing catch up.

From there I realized I definitely needed to get down and see my uncle who I had not seen in quite a few years. He lives in a little town called crestone, 11,000 feet up and another 4 hours from denver.

the drive out there was beautiful, though i may have sat on some fire ants while taking that photo.

Will further update on Crestone later tonight and finally make Laura update with her experiences and snapshots thus far...

Kansas City to Wichita.

Haven't updated since Kansas city and so much has happened.

first a shot from my shoot with LaLa

Spent the day after missouri in Wichita kansas with the adorable and extremely cool Alysha Nett, we shot a set for zivity in a massive semi-abandoned building in downtown. Really cool place really great city. Laura and I ate at a little restaurant called "The Tasty Shop" The special of the day was chicken fried chicken...which i still don't quite get, so i went with Braised Beef BBQ of course and it was delicious.

Then we tried "the best malt that guy ever had" i don't know that guy but he said it, and i believed him because i had no reason not too. it was a pretty damn good malt. went to a thrift store and picked up 3 polaroid cameras for 7 bucks.

Then the shoot which went amazingly

don't call it a hat its a shako...you'd know that if you were a marching band nerd like i was in highschool.

Wichita was awesome probably the only redeeming part of kansas

kansas city

august 19/20
arrived in kansas city, missouri morning on the 19th.
spent the day catching up on sleep and food, and the night shooting editing and writing til everyone else fell asleep.

In Ohio I finally gave in and tried cracker barrel for the first time; definitely not a fan. Though my love for eavesdropping did bring some interesting info about a local who had a stutter once and no longer does during a conversation had between a patron and waitress. Cambridge, Ohio is distinctly small town in that regard I suppose. Makes New Cumberland feel like a big city.

Illinois smelled like bad shits the morning after you drink to much whiskey, and I couldn't bring myself to shoot any landscapes on the way out here. Almost all of these states look Pennsylvania without a Philadelphia or Pittsburgh decidedly uninspiring.

Looking forward to Colorado, though I feel rushed here. Mary is a great host, photographer, and secretly an amazing model who I was hoping to be able to shoot this trip, but the days are going by faster than I imagined they could. I need some alone time in the mountains. Hope to photograph the stars, swim in a sulfur pond, and possibly see my Uncle Mark.

last week when i was out here I shot Poses...it was basically the mini road trip before the road trip, also rushed faster than i wanted it to be

tonight I shot Lala

i was feeling weird all day the results should be interesting. fortunately she's a good friend and put up with my shit all shoot and even let me get a shot for a super secret side project.

I rarely seem to know what i'm going to do before i set up the light, which is probably not the best way to do business, but it has nearly always worked for me artistically.

will make laura update tomorrow as she has been on top of snapshots and the like...she can go over her first experience with eating ribs at gates as well

hopefully will be able to find something i want to photograph tomorrow outside of my shoot with Alysha Nett in wichita
